The weather was threatening to do its worst this morning as we headed out on our only trip of the day, with some low clouds and a light rain to welcome us. However, the sharks were not deterred by this and we had a “fin-tastic” trip! Once anchored the rain eased off, the low cloud lifted and we had our first shark, an approximately 2.7m juvenile arrive just after 15 minutes. This smaller individual was one that we have gotten to know quite well over the past weeks with some significant scarring to its head, trunk and dorsal fin. It was a nice, active shark to have as our first shark and was also the last shark of the trip as it showed up one last time at the end of the forth cage to bid us good bye. We had a few sharks come up quickly for a look at Slashfin and its passengers before moving on, however a few kept around, swimming deep and circling before making their way back to the front of the cage and the awaiting, posed cameras. A special mention goes to our largest shark of the trip, a beautiful 4.0m individual that was playing shy before finally coming up to let us have a good look at it as it went by multiple times and swim right up past the cage…WOW! They say there is a silver lining to every cloud and these sharks were our silver lining in the shallows today…
