We arrived at our dive site this morning and had quite a wait till our first shark arrived. In fact we were able to watch our first shark slowly make its way up our chum slick zigzagging from side to side! It turned out to be a 3.8m male individual we have been seeing frequently on our recent trips. Another known fin we saw this morning was that of a male individual with a satellite SPOT tag on the right side of its dorsal fin, which provided some great viewing for our divers and also gave those on board a look at one type of way that these creatures can be tracked. To finish off this trip, as we were packing up and most of the group had settled down for the trip back to the harbour a large shark breached right next to the cage…what a finale! The second trip of the day saw very similar activity as the first, with a bit of a wait for that first shark to arrive. The first shark was yet again a large individual approximately 3.7m in length quickly followed by a smaller 3.3m individual. These two sharks were the main attractions of this trip coming and going throughout, always nearby! The third trip started with a bang as a large male came straight to the boat after anchoring, however it did slow down after that with the afternoon winding up with little shark activity. However, “Jacob” was around to save the day and provided the rest of the trip with some much needed action from one of our favourite sharks at the moment! A great day out in the bay…
