Water Temperature: 14.3C + 15.2C
Depth: 16.2m + 18.0m
Visibility: 5m + 5m

Conditions:  A rainy morning but the weather got better as time passed and we got a little bit of sunshine at the end of the day

After a day with bigger swell and stronger winds today was a day with very little wind and swell. Unfortunately it was a bit rainy this morning but weather conditions got better as time passed. Halfway through our first trip it stopped raining which made it a lot easier for everyone to get some good shots of the sharks. The most active shark on the first trip was a 3.6m female and she stuck around most of the time. We got visited by 2 more sharks on the first trip, a 2.9m shark with lots of freckles and a 3.5m male. The wind direction was constantly changing but fortunately the sharks were able to find their way to the boat. For our second trip we launched at 12.15 and the water temperature had risen by a whole degree compared to the first trip. The visibility was very good at 5m or more as we were told by our divers. The first shark to show up was the 3.6m female we saw on our first trip. The second shark to show up was a massive female (4.3m) that we know as Clampy. She was clamped by National Geographic back in 2013 and we can still see markings on her dorsal fin from where the clamp was attached. She also has a few large parasite patches on her head. The third shark was also an interesting shark as it had a satellite tag on the dorsal fin. It turned out to be Helen Suzman a shark tagged by Ocearch back in 2012. She was tagged in Mossel Bay but we have only started seeing seen her in this area this year. We ended up seeing 8 different sharks varying from 2.9 to 4.3m in length. Before we headed back to Kleinbaai Harbor we took a closer look at the Seal colony on Geyser’s Rock.
