Well it is lucky that sharks don’t mind a bit of rain because we had a constant supply of it this morning. Our first and only trip of the day was for a group of friends from England on a trip celebrating a bachelor’s party. We launched early from Gansbaai harbour and made our way around Danger point and into the Shallows. We didn’t have too long to wait for the sharks to show up and whilst we were waiting we were lucky enough to see a mother and calf Southern Right whale pair cruising close by! The first shark to arrive was a male approximately 3.3m in length, quickly followed by two well known females, “Scarlett” and “ Caroline”. These three sharks spent most of the trip coming and going especially “Caroline”, whilst she may be smaller than the others, measuring in at about 2.7m, what she lacks in size she makes up for in her playful behaviour and constant activity! The last two to make up our final five appeared and disappeared very quickly with just a pass or two, this included our smallest of the day , a juvenile under the 2.0m mark and “Ingrid” our largest shark of the day coming in at 4.2m! A wet but wild day on the water…
