We were one of only two boats to head out today as the wind and swell was in the higher range, but being the largest boat in the harbour and also custom built we can comfortably handle the weather and with the skipper’s knowledge we found a sheltered area between the islands to keep most of that wind off us and hardly felt the swell! It was abit of a slow start this morning, possibley due to the direction of the current, which is responsible for dispersing the scent trail that attracts our sharks. Now today we had a current heading East, the past few days we have had success with currents heading west, so it may have taken a little while to attract the sharks in to the boat because of this direction, however in due time they arrived and we had some jumpy juveniles around this morning! The afternoon trip had a nice surprise when we arrived…a shark cruising along the surface right next to the cage! Perfect for our already suited up divers who just had to slip into the water. Yet again this trip was dominated by the juveniles, especially the smallest of the day, a female with a fresh bite mark on her right top side! Towards the end of the trip a large shadow came gliding in, unfortunately it took a glance at the decoy and bait and then retreated to the depths, still a great view for those on board! A wild day out at the Island…
