Whilst our crew and divers were up nice and early this morning it appears the sharks didn’t get the memo with an hour wait seen before the first shark arrived. Patience goes a long way with wildlife and our group was rewarded when a 3.0m+ female showed up along with another female similar in size but much more active. This second, active shark was “Mandy”, a regular sight at the boat over the last few weeks, she is always a welcome arrival as her behaviour is fantastic with no secret to why she is a favourite with our guests and the team at Marine Dynamics. We also had another female, a little bit smaller than “Mandy” but one that we have been seeing just as frequently, and one that has recently been named “3bird”. This morning’s did not only just see the White sharks but also two Cape Fur seals chasing some of the smaller fish around the boat, a different and interesting sight from a shark cage diving boat.

The second trip of the day launched and we found that activity was touch and go with two juvenile sharks showing up throughout this trip. Yet again “3bird” visited the boat, yet the sharks would come and then leave us for some time before returning again.

The last trip of the day started off well with a juvenile White shark spotted not too long after arriving back in the Shallows. We were visited this afternoon by a number of White sharks, all of them under the 3.0m mark in length thus putting them in the juvenile lifestage, however having little sharks around the boat is not a bad thing at all as it is the younger, smaller ones that are usually quite active and happy to stick with us a bit longer than the larger ones. The star of the day “3bird” yet again made and appearance and was one of the most active of the afternoon much like the previous trips earlier today.
