It was great to be back on sea today after four days off, I think we may have all started to get land sickness! It was a beautiful morning to be out on the water with flat, clear seas and a light wind that kept changing on us. Dealing with nature we never really know what to expect and it makes it even harder when we have a such a few days off from our trips, however this morning we only had an half an hour wait till a White shark turned up, a juvenile female that stuck around for the first two cages and then unfortunately made herself scarce for the rest of the trip. The second trip of the day had a lot of patience and they had too! The group spent close to three hours on anchor scanning the surface for any sign of a shark but sadly did not have any luck. White sharks, unlike captive animals in zoos and aquariums are wild, free animals, that means that sometimes we do have a trip that do not see the sharks. Thank you to all those that joined us today and made the most of a day out on the water! The third and final trip of the day launched with all fingers crossed that we would see a shark! The wind had certainly picked up but so too had the shark activity! We were lucky enough to have a shark cruise by within 20 minutes of anchoring and moments later another individual show up! This second shark stuck around for the entire trip and all of the four cage groups. It was a feisty juvenile female easily distinguishable by the parasites around her dorsal and caudal fin and gill slits.Today was one of those days that just goes to show how quickly and how much the conditions and shark activity can change throughout the day…
