I’ve said it before and I’ll probably say it again… what a day! We had perfect conditions throughout both trips. The first was an exclusive with four divers from the UK and a SA film crew looking at the exciting adventures that South Africa has on offer. Whilst we waited patiently for our first shark of the day it was well worth the wait, as a 3.9m female came cruising into view. After the first shark they just kept coming with the big boy in the bay “Freckles”, coming in for his “close-up” while also giving the divers in the cage their own close-up and personal encounter. The second trip of the day saw a continuation of the shark action seen earlier. We had some of the same sharks from the first trip visiting Slashfin again, but also a few new ones came to investigate, including one we call “fishing line shark” due to an injury sustained some time ago when fishing line became wrapped around its trunk close to the last gill slit. Fortunately crew onboard Slashfin were able to free the shark of the trailing line. It truly is great to see this shark at the boat, looking healthy and healed! The ride back into the harbour took a detour as we spotted a pod of Bottlenose dolphins frolicking close to the coast. A great end to an even greater day on the water…
