Date:  6-6-2015
Location:  Joubertsdam
Water Temperature: 14.7C + 15.1C
Depth: 9.5m + 8.3m
Visibility: 1m + 1.5m
Number of Sharks: 12 + 4
Conditions:  A quality day with almost no swell and lots of sunshine

What a beautiful day out at sea! The swell was down to under 2m and there was only very little wind. The sun was out and everyone felt quite warm. We even started to take of jackets and fleeces to cool down a little bit. The area we went to was Joubertsdam and the visibility was better than previous days probably because the wind had settled. It was a day where we saw lots of juveniles around the boat varying from 2m to 3.5m in length. On our first trip we saw a few new faces but also a few familiar faces. Amongst the familiar faces were Frownie, a 3m male and a 2.4m male with propeller cuts on the dorsal fin. The cuts are turning white in color indicating that they are healing, good news! At the end of the trip we saw a shark with a little right pectoral fin. Judging from the shape it might have been bitten off by another shark. For our second trip we headed back to Joubertsdam and we gave our volunteer team the opportunity to get up close and personal with the great whites, something they all deserved after a day of hard work! Weather conditions hadn’t changed a lot as we got back and we ended up seeing 4 different sharks on that trip. Not to forget, on both trips we saw a pod of humpback dolphins swimming very close to shore.
