Today was another calm day out at sea. We have been surprised to see a white shark after just a few minutes. The shark stayed for a little while before it disappeared on us again. it was estimated to be around three meters in size. After the shark left the waters around our vessel Slashfin, we had to wait for about two hours to have another glimpse at a white shark. This shark just passed the boat and was gone again. So shark activity is still very slow in our bay, but at least we got to see one of these beautiful creatures closer. At the end of the trip we decided to go to the world famous Shark Alley and see the Cape fur seals.
We had to show some patience for the second trip with close to an hour wait for any sighting. Finally a little female, one we have been seeing for the past few days showed up and continued to appear around the boat on and off for the rest of our trip. The real show stopper was our second shark to appear, a larger male, approximately 3.4 metres in length and very darkly coloured on the dorsal surface. This shark had some of the most active behaviour we have seen in a while as he took fast approaches on the lines and close passes by the cage. A fantastic end to our trip and day.
