Daily Blog 05 November 2026 | Shark Cage Diving in South Africa

05/11/2026

Location: Gansbaai, South Africa

Dive site: Joubertsdam

Water temp: Moderate

Visibility:  Good

Sightings: Bronze whaler sharks, Cape fur seals + Southern Elephant seal

Trip Summary: Today we set off early from Kleinbaai Harbour, making the most of the beautiful, calm conditions before the expected wind picked up. Just 15 minutes across the bay, as we arrived at our dive site, we were instantly greeted by Bronze Whaler sharks! What an incredible way to start the trip! Our adventure continued as we made our way towards the Greater Dyer Island area to collect some critically endangered African penguins, who were on their way to the African Penguin and Seabird Sanctuary. We also ventured into Shark Alley to check in on our Cape fur seal colony and, of course, our much loved Southern elephant seal, Jabba! What a fantastic day out on the water! A huge thank you to everyone who joined us today.
