A great start to the weekend with our first White shark spotted approaching the boat as we were anchoring. This was “Mini Nemo”, a smaller male, names so due to the stunted right pectoral fin much like the Disney Pixar clownfish character from Finding Nemo. He stuck around for most of the trip with his usual ambush approached surprising everyone on board. We then had a few more juveniles approach, a little smaller than “Mini Nemo” before the big sharks started to appear including “Brian” our most recently tagged White shark that has a new acoustic tag attached on the left side of his trunk under the dorsal fin. The two largest sharks of the morning were the male “Floppy”, with the rolled over tip to the dorsal fin and “Gray” an estimated 4.2m beauty with distinctive scars allowing for easy identification. Before heading back to shore we made a quick stop by the Islands to have a closer look at the Cape Fur seal inhabitants of Geyser Rock.

The second trip of the day started with the newly tagged male “Brian” showing up to the boat. Whilst this shark is very active when around he does not actually stick around longer than a few passes before disappearing away from the boat, something the tracking of this animal around the area has shown too, he won’t stay long around the vessels! The trip then saw a number of juveniles coming and going with the addition of the largest shark of the trip and overall the day with “Gray” reappearing again from the first trip.
