Number of Sharks: 8
Conditions: Overcast skies with a slight swell and little wind.

A change in the conditions in the area after the last two days of perfect weather. However the clouds might have rolled in and the swell may have increased a little bit today but it was still a lovely morning out on Slashfin. First on the agenda was a look at the Cape Fur seals and Shark Alley before we anchored towards the South-East side of Geyser Rock today and waited for the arrival of our first White shark which was not long at all. The first to cruise into our view was a estimated 3.5m female that we know quite well and which has been adopted and named recently as part of our research and conservation support through Dyer Island Conservation Trust. This sharks name is “Xara” and was named after the adopter’s young daughter. A beautiful shark, she glided around the boat before heading off to later return towards the end of the trip. Next up were some average sized male sharks, neither of which stuck around long before a feisty female we had spotted yesterday sped in and then out as a large shadow was spotted looming, this shadow turned out to be “Maureen”, a stunningly large female that has been satellite tagged by Ocearch and one that we had seen previously close to three weeks ago. We believed that she might had left the area yet it appears she was just over the other side of the Islands’ from where we have been diving the last few weeks. Measuring in at approximately 4.7m in length she is a real show-stopper and had our guests attention from the get go! The last shark of the trip was another female and whilst she was not as large as “Maureen” he behaviour was perfect, she was slow and curious and gave everyone a fantastic view as she glided by the boat and cage mutliple times, sticking with us right till the end of our trip. A overcast day made bright by the Great White shark…
