Trip 1
Short wait times and plenty of sharks. What more could we ask for? How about some whale sitings and stingrays coming to the cage?! Our first trip began with a Southern Right Whale spotted off the right side of Slashfin as we headed to Joubertsdam. It was just a short 20 minute wait before the first shark arrived, accompanied by a short-tailed stingray. This trip was very lucky and got to see 4 of our tagged sharks! Three of these tags are new and have just been put on within the past week, while one of them is a tag that we had put on just under a year ago. It will be great to pull up the listening stations and see where exactly that shark has been, especially as it was a very active shark, doing a breach at the seal decoy. Of the sharks that we saw today, 3 were shark that have been adopted. First came “Scarlett,” then “Karim,” and lastly was “Sarko.” All were acting their usual selves with “Scarlett” being a bit elusive while “Karim” came barging in, stealing the show, only lending the spotlight to “Sarko” for a few minutes at a time.

Trip 2
Our second trip was an exclusive trip for a lovely couple and they got to see 4 different great white sharks! One was one of the recent tagged sharks and 2 were recently adopted sharks- “Scarlett” and “A Shark Has No Name.” The couple truly loved seeing the sharks, and even adopted one!

Trip 3
Our last trip had some great luck too as we waited 20 minutes before the first 2 sharks appeared. One was a shark that we’ve been calling “Beauty Spot” as it has a very distinct black freckle near it’s mouth that looks very similar to the Cindy Crawford and Marilyn Monroe beauty marks. This shark is a large shark at 3.8 meters long and is always very active. This trip also got lucky with the sizes of their sharks, with 5 of the 8 sharks being what we consider to be large sharks, all measuring over 3.5 meters long. These beauties are always incredible to see as they show the true potential for size that the great white sharks can reach. And they’re not even as big as they can get! This trip also got a visit from the always active “3-Bird,” giving a great view from above and below the water surface. It was a great day at sea!
