With the sun rising in the background, it was a perfect start to a great day.  We headed straight for the Island and anchored on the Geldsteen with good visibility.  It didn’t take long to have our first sighting and the sharks stayed continuously throughout the morning.  We were very fortunate to see Maureen for the first time in almost a year.  She was satellite tagged in 2012, so it was wonderful to see that she has survived another year and is still coming back to visit our area.  Many of the other sharks showed particular interest in the decoy today giving everyone really nice views from the cage.  Thanks for all the great questions today, we love talking sharks!

The second trip of the day launched and headed in the direction of the Islands to pick up our cage where it was left in the Geldsteen. Not long after arriving back we had our first shark around and another and another, looking to make our second trip just as successful as our first. Many of the sharks we saw this trip were ones we do recognise, whether that be that they have been frequent visitors to our boat over the last few weeks or possible sharks we have seen in the area in previous years. The most active of the trip was a smaller male by the name of “Cutfin”, due to the damage done to his dorsal fin that has left it in three sections vertically and a large female we have seen both in the Shallows and around the Island over the last 3 weeks. We hope our second group enjoyed their meeting with the White sharks!

On our final trip of the day we had a lovely group from the UK.  Several were returning to Marine Dynamics after previous visits with us.  Maryam got to see her first white shark and we were thrilled to share the experience with her.  It was a fantastic trip with several very large females including another appearance by Maureen.  Come back again soon – the sharks really seem to love you guys!
