It was a bright and early start for our shark lovers today. Though the sharks took some time to wake up and join us, we were all blessed with 10 sharks ranging from 1.8m to 3.9m. We had our usual shark friends that hang around with us, including “Caroline”, a juvenile female shark whom we first met on the 24th of September and has been spotted on a daily basis ever since. “Caroline” is the living proof of a Great White sharks serene beauty. She was casually swimming around the boat and checking out the cage which offered our divers today the time to admire her up close as everyone could notice the moustache looking scar on the left side of her body. “Pieter”, a shark we also see quite often, named after one of our skippers for having the same personality. With a couple of breaches, and playing around with our decoy handler, he sure did have all the attentions of our divers and crew on board. We were all very happy today to welcome back an approximate 2.4m male shark that we had last seen back in June during our Winter season at the Island. He is easily recognisable by a bite on the left side under his dorsal fin, originally seen to be quite fresh, it has now healed over well. Welcome back to the bay! Our divers were lucky to see a Short-tailed stongray today both from the boat and under the water. We all did hit jackpot when a Southern Right whale, mother and calf pair, was spotted closer inshore. Overall it was an incredible morning spent admiring these majestic animals, as we returned back to harbour just in time before the weather changed and we had some light rain. Nonetheless it didn’t appear to dampen our day…
