Our first trip set out just after sunrise and we had high hopes to spend our morning with some Great White Sharks. After being on anchor for about an hour, our wishes were granted as a 3m male approached the vessel. This male is new to the bay and could be distinguished by 2 scratches on his left side. Soon after, our well known shark friend, Clampo joined in on the fun. Clampo is a 3.4m male that is easily recognizable by the two dark pigmentation markings on both sides of his dorsal fin (which we suspect is from a camera tag). Both Clampo and our other male shark would continuously appear and disappear, keeping us in suspense and always camera ready. When they did appear, they were not afraid to get nice and close to the cage for us to get face to face and admire the beauty of these animals in their natural habitat.

The second trip of the day headed back out to discover we had the bay to ourselves for the afternoon. Once back on anchor we had a little wait for our first shark to appear, gliding effortlessly from under the front of the boat and into clear view for all on board. This first Great White shark was a male approximately 3.0m in length who came and went throughout the trip. Things became quite for a while before the activity really picked up as our second and third sharks for the trip both arrived quickly after each other. These included a small individual, so quick that we could not determine its’ gender and then a large male, seen last week by the Marine Dynamics team, he made some beautifull close passes by the cage and some vertical approaches on the bait and decoy line. A lovely trip to finish of this Friday.
