This mornings’ trip launched nice and early and was greeted shortly after arrival by “Mandy”, a juvenile White shark the crew and many of our recent visitors are familiar with due to her active behaviour around the boat and the ease at which she can be identified, a highly distinguishable white scar behind her dorsal fin. Mandy stuck with the boat for the entire morning coming and going amongst the other White sharks that turned up after her, including a small male that choose a few moments to come in flying! The second trip also got off to a great start with sharks around only five minutes after arriving back. Most of these individuals differed from the ones seen on the morning trip including the arrival of one of our r-coded acoustically tagged sharks and the large male “Jacob”! This group also saw the Short-tailed stingrays glide on up to the surface throughout the trip. The third and final trip was for a group of family friends from the United Kingdom, United States and South Africa spending time in the area they chose to experience the White sharks up close and personal. The water was warm all day today however it was very murky and made viewing the sharks under water a challenge, however, the sharks were happy to come nice and close, including on this trip, when “Jacob”, turned up and spent a few passes cruising by right in front of the cage, thank you “Jacob”! We also saw the return of “Mandy” and one of thes smallest White sharks we are likely to see in this area, measuring in at approximately 1-1.5m, this little one was very shy and skittish around the boat, a very sweet sight amongst some of the big fish! Before heading back to land we cruised out by the Islands to watch the very entertaining Cape Fur seals. Thank you to all that joined us for a day out on the water with the White sharks…
