What a stunning morning. We launched before the sun was out, but it was definitely worth it. Arrived in the shallows, our dive site, we were able to watch the beautiful sunrise. After that and getting dressed into the wetsuits we spotted our first great white shark, perfect timing. For most of the trip we had three different sharks around, but they were playful and kept coming back towards the decoy and bait. In the middle of the trip it was a bit more quiet around our vessel Slashfin. But then ‘Mini Rosie’ pitched up and was entertaining us for the rest of our shark cage diving tour. After a great trip we were slowly heading back to the Kleinbaai harbour.

The second trip was all about “Big Rosie”!  She made so many calm passes that everyone on the boat agreed she was the favorite.  I even heard some “I love you Rosie” comments from the cage.  Rosie is a shark we tagged a few years back.  Since that time, she has shown an impressive amount of growth.  Of course, we are delighted to see that she has not only survived, but seems to be flourishing.  Big thanks to the group from Canada for joining us.  Your enthusiasm and energy will never be forgotten!  Miss you already.

The third trip started off with a bang.  We had almost no wait before several different sharks were around.  We also had nice visibility today so all of the divers were able to get some good looks at the sharks. One of our divers was extremely nervous about going into the cage, but she conquered her fear and we couldn’t be more proud.  We love being able to show off how white sharks behave in their natural environment instead of how they are often portrayed in movies.  Changing those perceptions can play a big role in helping sharks survive.
