Conditions: A cloudy morning, with no wind and only a slight swell
We were a well-oiled machine as we beat the tide this morning to get out to the shallows nice and early. This move paid dividends as the first boat out there we had the pick of the sharks. And they didn’t take long to arrive with two small females surfacing within minutes of anchoring. These two females have been seen fairly frequently over the last few days with the small pale female sticking around sporadically for the whole trip. Next up was super Sarko with some elegant acrobatics and then she swam off to enjoy the rest of her morning. We had 5 Copper sharks for company as well this morning with the stingrays trying to steal some of the limelight too! Next up was another small female and the 3.8m female we’ve seen recently as well. She was more of a one pass and go kinda girl this morning though. We even had time this morning to go check out Dyer Island and the seals of Geyser rock which was a nice added bonus for this trip.
Our second trip launched with the sun trying to creep through the clouds and as we got to our anchor site we were greeted by white sharks pretty much immediately again! This trip we had 4 white sharks and our copper friends as well. We had the small pale female around slashfin again, with another 2m female we’d seen two weeks ago, so that’s good to see she is sticking around the area for some time! We also had Sarko and the 3.8m female as well, who was more active for this trip giving us some stunning photo opportunities.
The third trip started of a little slow even though we had sharks around very soon after arriving back onto anchor in the Shallows. However before too long things started to pick up especially with the arrival of two large females, one approximately 3.8m in length and none other than ‘Scarlett’, the largest shark for the day measuring in at approximately 4.3m in length. We also had a large number of Copper sharks visit, at one point we had six schooling around in front of the cage, and a Short-tailed stingray coming and going throughout the afternoon.
