We launched with the sun this morning, allowing us a beautiful view as we headed out of the harbour and into the shallows. The wait this morning for the sharks to arrive was mininal with a 20 minute period of scanning the area before a 4.2m female quickly and surprisingly made her presence known as she broke the calm surface of the water! It only took moments for more sharks to arrive as animal after animal passed in front of our eyes including “Little Lumpy” the small but feisty female patrolling the area at the moment as well as an average sized male who proved to be quite a hand full as he came in full speed, making multiple attempts on the bait and decoy line in a spectacular fashion! We headed back around Danger Point after the trip to Gansbaai Harbour due to the low tides in Kleinbaai Harbour and on the way spotted a Southern Right Whale! A nice extra for the group on board. The second trip of the day was an exclusive for two well known South African cricketers, Faf du Plessis and JP Duminy with family and friends, and their trip started just as nicely as the first ended with a Bryde’s whale spotted as they headed back around Danger Point. The sharks were ready to shine only minutes after ariving including “Mark” the juvenile male shark with a distinctive injury to his dorsal fin and “Thuli” a juvenile female who is great to have around the boat as she is one that once she arrives she usually sticks around. The third trip of the day was a fantastic trip with the large female from this morning making her return and wowing those onboard before “Mini Nemo”, “Thuli” and some other White sharks joined her. We had two celebrations on board today so a big Happy Birthday to Samantha from our first trip and Ronald from our third trip…
