Our first trip headed out into the morning sunshine in anticipation to get sharky! All the while a lone southern right whale was cruising just outside the harbour, so a great start to the trip! Back to the sharks though, and we were not to be disappointed, as we anchored up and got our divers in their gear we got sharks around pretty quick. So our divers climbed into the cage, to view the stunning copper sharks from the water. With the visibility remaining pretty good in the bay, our divers got some beautiful sightings. We got lucky again today with some fantastic copper shark activity, and the bonus of the 7 Gill cowshark! This individual glided to the surface and hung out a little bit with our second group of divers and then was on its way again! Nevertheless a beautiful sighting. We got a stingray towards the end of the trip, just as the rain started to come in, and then it was back to shore for our happy group of divers.
The sky cleared up by the time we started our second trip of the day. Once we got to our dive location everyone couldn’t wait to get into the water so they jumped into their wetsuits and were ready to go. AS soon as the cage was safely attached to the side of Slashfin, first sharks arrived. Copper sharks, as they usually are lately, were incredibly active and then we again had a treat of a 7 Gill cow shark coming to the surface showing our guests its beautiful silver back. Our youngest diver of the trip was a 6-year-old who bravely climbed into the cage to see the sharks a bit closer. Once everyone enjoyed their time with the sharks we headed back to the harbour.
For our last trip of the day, we took a detour to Dyer Island before heading to our dive site. Our guests on board were thrilled to see so many Cape Fur seals on Geyser rock especially with cute little pups around. Once again our copper sharks did not make us wait long and started circling the boat pretty much as soon as we dropped our anchor at the dive location. We had some amazing shark activity around the boat once again.
