It was an early and cold start this morning but the sharks helped to keep our minds on other things! We had our first shark arrive approximately 20 minutes after we anchored and was just the beginning of what was to come. We had two of our current regulars show up, the juvenile with the bite mark in front of the dorsal and the large female with old bite marks on both sides of the face. The second trip of the day saw sharks show up in similar time to the first trip but the first one was close to double the size of the juvenile from the first trip, a very nice female with parasite patches on her head and in front of her tail. It was a trip for the larger sharks with 6 out of the 8 sharks over the 3.3m length, always impressive to see the big fish around. The third and final trip headed out this afternoon and yet again had less than a 30 minute wait for the shark action to begin. We had the large female around the boat again wowing everyone with her sheer size and also had one of the smaller sharks we have seen on the other side of the Island as well as the Gelsteen, an active individual with a distinctive rosie on the leading head of her dorsal fin and a chunk out of the back of it’s dorsal fin. A great day with some great sharks…
