Well it was a beautiful day to be out on the water today and we had the whole bay to ourselves! The sun was shining and a light breeze was blowing as we headed out from the harbour with the fun beginning before we even arrived at our dive site. Today saw lovely conditions however the swell was on the larger side, nothing to worry about, just a fun ride out! Once on anchor the sharks were around within 30 minutes and stuck around the entire trip. The activity we saw today from the sharks was out of this world, with the boat usually having an eye on at least one shark consistantly throughout the day and not only that but we were lucky enough to see Bronze Whalers and Short-tailed stingrays coming and going on both trips, maybe due to the warm waters we are seeing at the moment, a plus for our divers in the cage as well! We had some of our usuals around today including “Mark the shark”, a juvenile male with a distinctive injury to the dorsal fin, one of our r-coded acoustically tagged individuals, “Mandy” the female about the bay at the moment and the juvenile we have been monitoring for the last two days due to our worries about his condition! Not only were the usuals around but we had a number of sharks that were not instantly recognisable to us, possibly animals that have recently migrated into the bay and we hadn’t seen them yet. An exciting day of shark and stingray cage diving…
