An early morning start for our divers today however it was a beautiful morning with the sky tinged orange and pink as the sun rose. It also looked like the sharks were awake nice and early with a shark arriving not long after we did. We had some of our current frequent visitors to the boat including the female “Claudia” and “Fishing Line Shark”, the two satellite tagged males “Sellendilloh” and “Poseidon”, and towards the end the little male “Cutfin” with propellor damage to his dorsal fin. We also had a young African penguin visit the boat today and whilst it did draw some attention to itself from the sharks, thankfully this endangered species appeared to make it safely away. Congratulations to our newly weds today as we had a number of honeymooning couples on the boat, as we like to say here at Marine Dynamics “A couple that dives together stays together”.
The second trip of the day launched and was back on anchor quickly with the sharks around moments after. We were lucky to have some feisty juveniles around for this trip showcasing their seed and agility as they looked to appear out of nowhere and give our guests a fantastic view of the Great White shark. We had some new sharks for this trip including “Bruce” one of our recently adopted sharks with half a pectoral fin on the right side and also a little male we know as “High 5” due to the damage one to its’ right pectoral fin that has it now placed in a permenant 90’C angle making it look like he wants to slap fins with you! Today’s trip was family orientated with a number of young families on board, it is fantastic for us to see the kids onboard so that they can understand that the White shark is not an animal to be feared but respected, education is key to changing the negative image that surrounds this animal and we are grateful to be able to welcome these oung shark fans onboard!
The third and final trip of the day was an exclusive for a family visiting from the United Kingdom. It got off to a fantastic start with sharks started not too long after arriving back in our dive area and the activity for this trip followed from our previous providing a beautiful end to a spectacular day.
