Today we launched a bit later then the past few days, but it didn’t affect our shark sightings. On the morning trip we were waiting only for a short while before the first great white shark showed up. The first shark this morning was staying around our vessel ‘Slashfin’ for quite a while. Later one new sharks arrived constantly and at the end of our trip we counted twelve different individuals, how lucky. In the middle of the trip our skipper spotted a sunfish, mola mola, a bit further off the boat. We only could see its fin sticking out, but it was still a great sighting as they are the largest bony fish and we don’t get to see them that often.
Our second trip was just as good as the first one. On the way out to our dive-site we were escorted by some sub-antarctic skuas. We only see these birds a few months of the year especially over the winter time. Arrived at the dive-site in the shallows had one sharks straight away. We encountered ‘Dolphin fin’ and another well-known shark from the last few weeks with a bend dorsal fin. Towards the end of the trip ‘Mini Rosie’ decided to come closer to have a look at the divers in the cage. All in all it was a great day, with fantastic shark sightings.
