A wet start to the day didn’t dampen our shark cage divers enthusiasm this morning and the sharks helped brighten the day with the first one of the day, “Mandy”, arriving only 20 minutes after anchor was set. The arrival of the sharks also saw the arrival of some Short-tailed stingrays that we continued to see throughout this trip and the next. The shark activity has been a tad on the slow side the last few days but today was fantastic with some active individuals around! This mornings’ trip saw two sharks over the 4.0m length, very impressive indeed! Throughout the day one of our R-coded acoustically tagged male sharks was seen, a fantastic opportunity for our visitors to see the research side of what we do through our conservation trust DICT. The second trip of the day started off yet again with a wet beginning but soon cleared for a dry trip. We had a shark around the cage as we came back which unfortunatly moved on however “Mandy” reappeared not too long after and continued to cruise around making it her mission for our divers to have a nice view of a White shark under the water as she gracefully moved infront of the cage. This afternoon also saw a large female with a very beautiful and distinctive fin swim on by. The fin was highly serated and is one that we have seen before, whilst she didn’t stick around it was fantastic to see such a large animal gliding by! Towards the end of the trip saw a sub-adult male arrive making a magnificent vertical approach on the bait line, showing off the feature that earned it its’ name, that stark white underbelly. Some JAWsome shark activity out in the bay today…
