10 minutes, 15 minutes, and 5 minutes. That’s how long we had to wait for our first shark to appear on each trip! You can’t ask for a better start to a trip than that! Our first shark was one that we have been calling “Eyeshadow” as it has a white scar just above its eye that looks like it has eyeshadow on. We also were lucky enough to see one of the sharks that had been tagged yesterday by our crew! It’s always great to be able to show people first hand what our work is and teach them about why we do it. Studying these animals movements is crucial in understanding their behaviors and helps us to better protect them. Our second trip was also lucky enough to see this tagged shark. We were also visited by a new favorite “3-Bird.” She’s a 2.7 meter female white shark and she always gives our divers and those on board a great view of her entire body. She stuck around the rest of the trip and even joined us as our first shark on our third trip! This trip actually saw two of our recently tagged sharks, the one from both earlier trips, and a smaller one. We also spotted a couple of Caspian Terns from the boat, and a large 4.1 meter shark with large scars down its right side and 2 white scars on its dorsal fin. This shark was the perfect end to a perfect day.
