Location:
Joubertsdam

Water Temperature: 16.3C + 16.4C
Depth: 12.4m + 13.5m
Visibility: 0.5m + 0.5m
Number of Sharks: 9 + 11
Conditions:  A warm day with little wind and lots of sunshine

From the moment we headed out toward Joubertsdam the sun was out and it seemed to be a beautiful day. It was a warm day above and under water. We expected it to be a bit colder than what we had this week as we had some strong easterly winds yesterday but fortunately for our divers this was not the case. On our first trip the first shark we spotted was quite small with an approximate length of 1.9m. We also got a bigger shark (4m) and a familiar face (dolphin fin) that we had not seen for some time now. Just before we headed back to the harbor we had some mist coming in but this cleared up quickly so the sun was back before we actually got back. We soon launched for our second trip of the day and we had sharks around from the beginning. Everyone got changed into their wetsuits quickly as they didn’t want to miss out on seeing the sharks from the cage. Water temperature was still high (16.4C) and sharks were present in big numbers! The first 4 sharks we spotted were all below 3m in length and because of these smaller sharks the people were amazed to see a 4.2m Great white pass the cage just inches in front of them.
