The first trip launched nice and early this morning, lets say the early divers gets the sharks! We arrived in the Geldsteen, suited up our divers and then settled down to watch for the those sharks. Just 30 minutes after anchoring the first shark was spotted a small but feisty individual that appeared to bring its’ friends as more and more sharks started to arrive! The stand out of this trip certainly goes to a lovely female approximately 3.7m in length that has some very distinguishable scars on both sides of her jaws and some of the calmest behaviour we have seen in a while as she slowly approached us multiple times right at the surface! The second trip of the day started off a bit on the slow side with the boat anchored in the first trip’s dive site for close to an hour, and whilst the first trip had some amazing activity the second trip struggled in this area so up anchored we go and off to try a different area! Much more luck was seen in the next dive spot, just on the other side of the Island, with a number of White sharks coming up to the boat, including a very nice 3.5m individual that wowed those on board. The change in dive areas worked in our favour not just because the sharks were around but also because the visibility was better on this side of the Island. The third and final trip of the day was great with two sharks instantly coming to the surface and circling the boat as we anchored. It was awesome to watch as the clear, still water allowed us to witness both sharks calmly glide past. Things progressed not too long after with more sharks coming in for a visit and the activity kicking it up a notch as we saw leaps and turns right infront of the cage. A truly fantastic day out on the water…
