We were back on the water after a day off due to some bad conditions that came through yesterday however the bay looked like a different place this morning with clear, blue skies a light wind and a decreased swell. We are always anxious after time off the sea and away from the animals as you can never know what to expect with wildlife at the best of times let alone after a day away. We were happy to spot our first shark approximately 15 minutes after the boat was on anchor with a large shark cruising into view, however this was the only shark for the first hour before others approached. This trip saw a nice mix of sizes with the smallest coming in at approximately 2.0m in length and the largest double this at approximately 4.0m in length. We saw two of our well known females which happened to be our smallest “Gigi” and our largest for the trip “Neva”.

The second trip of the day started with one of the bay’s current male White shark visitors “Vuvuzela”. The appearance of this male spurred a trip that was dominated by the male White sharks with four out of the nine sharks confirmed as male and these turned out to be some the most active sightings of the trip.

The final trip of the day was a boat made up of visitors from America, more specifically a girls Lacrosse team so much excitement could be heard as we arrived to the sight of a White shark cruising on the surface. This shark unfortunately did not stick around but disappeared on us but close to 30 minutes later other sharks were seen. During this time we had a Cape Commorant enjoy a swim infront of the cage and we are happy to say that it flew away to enjoy the day bite free! The sharks appeared more active about half way through our trip with two large females cruising in for some investigations allowing the divers to have a nice look at them under the water.
