Three days off the sea and the crew was getting “land sickness”! It was great to be back on the water today even though the conditions were not the most favourable. We started the trip with some small swell and wind which eventually died down however the rain kept on persisting and was present for the entire trip but we all know that sharks don’t mind a bit of rain so it wasn’t going to stop us from heading out to visit our fishy friends! We didn’t know what to expect of the shark’s activity today, but no need to worry we had our first shark by the boat within 20 minutes and some very much in the mood to show off in front of our visitors. We had three very large females around the boat including none other than our “Vanessa” and “Ingrid”, who appears to still be doing well despite the injury she has sustained to her dorsal fin. We consider ourselves very lucky, as Slashfin, our cage diving vessel allows us to be out on the water and see sharks most days of the year thus we can study the White sharks coming and going from the bay and can also monitor individuals such as “Ingrid” that have wounds like so. Even though the water temperatures might have felt a bit chilly for our divers the Short-tailed stingrays had no issues with it and popped up every now and again to the surface amongst the sharks. A wet and wild one out on the water today…
