Bright and early for today’s first trip as Slashfin launched with a group of photographers visiting the area. It was a beautiful morning and whilst the water temperature had dropped just slightly, the visibility was still quite good and the sharks appeared not to long after we did. This mornings tally of sharks was four including Clampy, the 4.0m female with distinctive marks to her dorsal fin, two smaller individuals around the 3.0m length and a little, shy juvenile. The second trip of the day saw a anchor move shortly after arriving, even with a sighting we decided to try another spot as the shark we saw was the shy shark from the earlier trip. The second anchor spot proved more successful with a 3.0m male showing up and staying with us on and off throughout the rest of the trip even when another shark similar in size made an appearance as well. The final trip on Slashfin for the day had a shark appear quite quickly and whilst it didn’t stay constantly around the boat it would disappear and reappear throughout the trip. This shark was a male that has been seen for over a week now and is sporting a distinctive but small bite on it’s trunk on the right side. The afternoon also brought a surprise in the form of a shark breaching out of the water in the distance.
