This morning saw another launch from Gansbaai Harbour as we continue to see low tides, however these launches allow for our groups to see more of the area including Danger Point and learn a little about the HMAS Birkenhead as we pass its final resting place. Once sheltered and anchored in the shallows our morning trip saw only a 15 minute wait till the first and smallest shark arrived, with a curious juvenile approximately 2.1m in length coming in for a good investigation before sneaking off when the larger individual started to cruise in! We said hello again to “Little Lumpy” and “Shark Bite Shark” again this morning, two sharks who appear to be staying in the bay for some time. The morning trip was also lucky to be visited by two other marine creatures found in the area, a friendly Southern Right Whale and two curious Short Tailed Stingrays. The afternoon trip was able to head out of Kleinbaai with high tides present at the time. Much like our earlier trip we saw the smallest of time in which we waited to spot a shark, mere moments only! Yet again it was the juveniles that turned up first before scattering and making way for the “big ones” to dominate the rest of the trip. The largest this afternoon and also the largest of the day was one that was glimpse only quickly as it made an attempt on the decoy, however we had a few individuals, closely sized at around 4.0m that stuck around and showed us another reason why they call them “Great” White Sharks…
