Trip Comments:
We had a wild ride out of the harbour this morning with some slight chop making it an interesting trip to our dive site. Once in the shallows, it was only a short wait before the first shark arrived and only moments later the second one came into view. Whilst the visibility was not at its best today due to the stormy weather conditions experienced in previous days as well as increased algae, the sharks were coming close enough for a great eye to eye encounter, and lovely viewing from the boat with some very nice activity on the surface! A special mention to our second shark, a juvenile male we have been seeing quite frequently lately, who wowed our visitors on board with its speed, agility and habit of leaping! This trip saw visitors from one of our main sponsors, Volkswagen. The group, visiting from Germany, enjoyed a trip out on Slashfin before touring our soon to be opened African Penguin and Seabird Sanctuary. We took a different route back to land as the tides were low and we could not enter Kleinbaai Harbour so we made our way around Danger Point to Gansbaai Harbour. We picked the cage left behind from the first trip and dressed our clients and waited for the sharks. After a while our sharks turned up and one of them turned out to be Jacob from the first trip. We had in the end seven different sharks including one shark with a satellite tag! Thank you all for an amazing day in the shallows…
