The morning trip launched from Kleinbaai harbour and headed out to our dive site in the shallows. While wetsuits were being distributed our first shark was spotted off the stern of the boat. Unfortunately this juvenile did not hang around initially and so our divers in the cage had a bit of a wait to begin with, but when our first shark returned we were treated to some fantastic passes as we battled to keep the bait line and the decoy out of reach of our little predator. After the cage rotation however this shark quickly moved on, being replaced by a slightly larger, 3.0m, shark who made a few passes in front the cage before departing. After a wait our skipper decided we would move on to a different dive site a short distance away, where we were treated to a large white shark approximately 4.3m in length as well as a brief appearance by a smaller individual, as well as another in the 4.0m range who saw us out till the end of the trip.We saw the clearing of conditions with the launch of our second trip which continued much the same as the first with a large shark present not long after arrival, measuring approximately 4.4m in length she drew gasps from our divers on board! The fun didn’t stop there with the arrival of a feisty 3.3m female who stuck by the boat for the remainder of the trip and really showed why these creatures are considered one of the most magnificent yet powerful marine animals around. A pleasant day had by all out in the bay…
