We decided to try diving over by the Island today to see if any of the winter sharks were patrolling the area for the upcoming hunting season, but alas there were none picking up the scent trail. The birds from Dyer Island however, were giving us quite a show!  We picked up anchor and moved back to the Joubertsdam area and it wasn’t long before we had two juveniles swimming around us! Our shark count quickly rose and the sizes varied anywhere from roughly 2.5m to 4m. Both “Mini Nemo” and “Ninja” turned up for us today and although “Ninja” is always the feistiest shark around “Mini Nemo” was giving her a run for her money. We also had one smaller juvenile around 2.8m who was being very kind to the divers, providing lots of up close passes and incredible slow poses in front of the cage, to the point where you almost suspected the small male was posing for the cameras! The sharks may not be very abundant around the Island system just yet but they’re definitely making their presence known in Joubertsdam…
