We were yet again blessed with an absolutely perfect day today, the sun was shining, the water was calm and we saw plenty of Great White Sharks! We had only just set anchor when our first shark of the day appeared. This curious juvenile shark continued to circle for a while, interested in having a thorough inspection of the boat, cage, decoy and bait line. Whilst our first shark was still slowly circling the boat, a small feisty female known as “Ninja” came hurtling in, breaking the surface of the water with one of her awe-inspiring leaps. The trip continued with a multitude of different sharks, the largest at 4.1m, and many of which were happy to come up close enough to the cage for the divers to inspect their pearly whites! Thanks to the great conditions today we headed to Shark Alley where we found the Cape Fur seals staying very close to Geyser Rock. We are nearing the winter hunting months at the island so it’s very possible that there was a hungry Great White in the area which had caused the seals to play it safe! Our second trip of the day was a small family group who had always known that shark cage diving was a must whilst visiting South Africa. They spent some quality family time in the cage, getting very acquainted with some of the sharks visiting the bay at the moment. The sharks that dominated this trip were the larger ones, with all visitors to the boat easily over 3.5m. Fingers and toes crossed that the beautiful weather and amazing shark action continues…
