The morning trip today was for the Primo research team, a group of professors and students looking to further explore White Shark behaviour. The sharks showed up quickly and they didn’t stop coming with new sharks continuously arriving throughout the trip. They saw a number of the large females currently in the bay including “Ingrid”, “Vanessa”, “Malcolm X” and “Fishing Line Shark”! This group of researches are looking at the behaviour of the White Sharks with the use of a few study techniques and specific equipment including varying forms of decoys. The afternoon trip of the day started off FINtastically with sharks yet again around from the get go, one being the 4m+ female “Vanessa”. This shark wows with its presence in particular its size this trip though saw her very active and continuously coming by in front of us. We were also graced again by “X”, my personal favourite White Shark and for a reason, when this shark decided to pay us a visit it is never just one pass and off she goes, she sticks around and allows us to get a good look at her which is great for those on board because of all the unique markings and stories behind this animal, a animal that has been visiting us since 2011! Last but not least a very big Happy Birthday to Norman who celebrated this special day seeing the White Sharks for the first time, and also to one of our International Marine Volunteers, Trace, who turned 19 today. A great afternoon and way to celebrate…
