Back to sea after a days break for the Marine Dynamics team, we were eager to see our White sharks in the bay however they had other plans for the morning with our first group patiently waiting for any sign of a shark. The morning proved difficult for all boats out on the water, towards the end of the trip and on our third anchor spot we finally encountered some fishy friends. The Copper sharks came by for a visit, with a number of individuals appearing for the remainder of the trip.

We launched for our second trip with abbrehension…we have had such luck over the last 6 weeks with White shark sightings, the earlier trip had us worried that our luck had run out yet things seemed to take a turn for the better as we heard that White sharks had finally been spotted in the area and low and behold not long after re-anchoring we had our first Great White and by the end of the trip a total number of 3 different sharks, all female and all similar in size, around the 3.7-4.0m length range, and all well known to us, including one of our current favourites, the female with the bite scar on the right flank and natural white pigmentation on the left side of the dorsal fin.

Finishing off the day we made our way back onto sea with a father and son visiting from Belgium. We again encountered White sharks as two of the females from the previous trip reappeared and the unknown male we met on Tuesday for the first time this year. This male, who was a highlight of Tuesday’s trips, proved to be so yet again, with some stunning passes close to the cage and jaw-dropping leaps from the water!

The Short-tailed stingrays kept us company on all trips today, not quite making it to the surface but letting us know they were around as their large, round silhouette could be seen gliding about.

An up and down day on the water today, thanks go to all our great guests but very much to our first group that showed such amazing patience and understanding for the unpredictability that is wildlife!
