Trip Comments:
What a day out at the shallows! After a fun ride out of the harbor with strong easterly winds we arrived at Joubertsdam where the swell was not too big. We were surprised to see that the visibility was very good: approximately 3 meters!  And if that wasn’t good enough the sharks showed up in huge numbers. We spotted 11 sharks on both trips, including some big females. Our first trip had a little extra to it as we witnessed a giant petrel getting bitten by a shark at another boat. So we pulled our anchor to see if we could help it out. We managed to get it on to our boat and as the Whalewhisperer passed us we passed the bird to them. They brought it back to shore where it was submitted to The African Penguin and Sea Bird Sanctuary. Our most recent update is that it is doing well, it is only a matter of time before we can release it.
