Another perfect Dyer Island winters trip! We had sunny, windless conditions with a slow swell rolling through the bay. On anchoring our vessel Slashfin, we could almost see the bottom of the ocean the visibility was so clear. After a short wait, the first shark arrived, a distinctive 3.5m male. Most of the sharks there after were male, one shark we recognised as ‘Lumpy” he has a tumour like growth on the right posterior side above his right pelvic fin and has been sighted at DI each winter for around 4 years. Not only were the sharks splendid, we also had two mother-calve Southern Right whale pairs pass by in very close proximity to our vessel! Needless to say, a great dive was had by all!
