Daily Trip 3rd June 2012 | White Shark Diving in Gansbaai

Location: Geldsteen

Temperature: 16.4C

No sharks: 20

Visibility: >10m

Today was the best visibility I have encountered whilst in Gansbaai! The warm crystal clear water made for the most spectacular dive. Shark action was impeccable and non stop from arrival to departure, with over twenty sharks ranging in size from 2.8m to 4.8m. One of these was ‘Andre’ a 3m male shark tagged by us on the 8th of May.  We know Andre has spent time offshore and in Struisbaai to the east of Gansbaai recently, but has not strayed too far from the Dyer Island vicinity. I got in to the cage myself and couldn’t believe how stunning it was! We were watching a large skate (similar to a sting ray) on the sea bed, seemingly unphased by its larger cousins circling above! Tami Kascke one of our dearest research assistants had her last day on Slashfin with amazing memories of a remarkable dive.
