Daily trip 29 October 2013 (Trip1) | Great White Shark Cage Diving Gansbaai

Location: JoubertsDam
Conditions: Calm and Cloudy
Sea surface temperature: 15°C
Visibility: 6m
No of Sharks: 11

On leaving Kleinbaai harbour we arrived at our anchor location to find a thick layer of mist caused by the windless conditions. After a short wait, the first shark appeared, which was a small distinctive individual known as “Little Lumpy” by the crew. Despite the grey conditions, our water visibility remained very clear from the cage and all our divers got excellent close passes of sharks. “Maureen” and “Dorien”, two satellite tagged females paid us a brief visit along with two even larger >4.5m TL females. All in all, the trip was wonderful and well timed because just as we left the wind began to pick up from the west making the inshore conditions uncomfortable!
