A beautiful day to be in the ocean; visibility was nice, sharks arrived before too long and some of them were true giants! The first shark we saw was a fairly moderately sized female (~3.5m) and was followed by a satellite tagged shark from the Ocearch project. This male is likely Luis Antonio who was also around 3.5m when tagged and headed towards Durban for the rest of the year. He looks like he’s grown a bit and certainly looks healthy! Next we had a very pale shark, which was very chilled out and circled the boat and decoy continually and finally the giants arrived. We estimated at least 4 sharks to be between 4.5 and 5 meters in length, mostly males and one of them noticeably larger than the others. It’s rare for us to see so many adult male white sharks so close to the shoreline but has been the story of the last 2 months or so and we’re definitely not complaining!!
