Today was the first day Slashfin and her crew could get back out on the water since last Friday due to some Winter weather settling in the bay. We hoped that the male White shark we saw last week would still be around and that some other sharks had arrived in the bay during the last 6 days. The first trip of the day was an exclusive for a family of 10 visiting from the United States, with high hopes we made our way to the Island to see what we could find. The seals were abundant as usual and we had some great bird sightings with a few Albatross and Giant Petrels appearing to enjoy the gusts of wind however unfortunately no sharks were seen. No matter, the group took a chilly dip into the water and took some time to watch the smaller species of fish that we sometimes see around the boat.
The second trip of the day headed out hoping that they might be the ones to see a shark. Before reaching the anchor spot a Humpback whale was spotted, a great sight along with seals and bird life for the afternoon, however no White sharks made their presence known to Marine Dynamics for this trip either.
Birthday wishes to Olivia, who joined us on our first trip this morning.
A big thank you to all our guest who joined us today for their patience and understanding, we truly appreciate it and hope you still enjoyed the day out on the sea.
