Location: Joubertsdam
Water Temperature: 16.0°C  +  13.5°C
Depth: 12m
Visibility: 1.5m + 7m
Number of Sharks: 9 + 11
Conditions: Flat & sunny with wind chop

Another excellent summers day in the Dam with plenty of shark activity! On the first trip there was a dense plankton bloom inshore, making shark viewing from the cage a bit difficult, however as the SE wind picked up the viz soon cleared up wonderfully (even though the water temperature dropped 2.5 degrees!). We saw our short tailed stingray on trip one, it ambushed our seal decoy. On trip two we saw ‘scar face’ a 3.2m female with a white acoustic tag. This device is the same as the radio tags we are using and we know it was deployed on her in Port Elizabeth last year. Just another example of how far these incredible sharks migrate regularly and how lucky we are to see them!
