Visibility: 4.5m

Number of Sharks:  8

Conditions: Sunny and calm

It was no problem having to wait an hour for the sharks to show up today as it was a gorgeous sunny day to be out on the water.  Our patience paid off with a total of eight sharks visiting our boat, all of which we have seen over the past couple of trips.  We had a tie for the largest shark of the day at 4.5m, as both “Floppy” and “Maureen” showed up.  “Maureen” is one of our satellite tagged sharks, and it was evident today that her lower caudal fin has been largely damaged and is hanging on by a thread; this doesn’t seem to be phasing her though as she kept swimming circles around the boat today! We also had some clients nickname one of the sharks “Band-Aid” as this 3.7m female had a nice sized cut on her upper caudal fin, this cut should hopefully heal up soon for her.  It was an excellent day of shark activity…. – Helen
