We headed out of the harbour early this morning, anchored and ready at our dive sight by 7:20am. Not only were we ready to go but the sharks were as well with our first shark arriving only 15 minutes after our arrival. This was a small individual approximately 2.9m in length that we have become quite acquainted with over the last few weeks and is great for those on board to see cause of its active personality. We were also visited by an individual of similar size but with a patch of parasite on its head. The Short Tailed Stingrays were also around and glided up into view throughout the trip. Our second trip of the day had a similar waiting time once out at the dive site, with a small shy shark turning up however it wasn’t for another 30 minutes before another individual turned up, yet again a small shy shark so we changed dive sites and had some much better luck in our new spot with five new sharks showing up with two sizing in at approximately 3.5m in length. The third and final trip of the day arrived at our site to find the sharks waiting. The juvenile with parasites on its head was still around and we had one of the 3.5m females from the second trip show up and was the most active of this trip, dominating over the smaller individuals and staying till the end!
Happy Valentine’s Day to all those who joined us on Slashfin today…
