04/05/13 Trip 2
Location: Joubertsdam
Visibility: 1-2m
Water Temp: 17.2’C
Sharks Sighted: 8
Conditions: Choppy

Second trip of the day and it started with a bang as 4 sharks were seen in quick succession. Three of them were smaller sharks but we had one large one and it wasn’t long before more came. We sighted a very large female with a very large propeller scar down her side and across her dorsal. We first saw this shark in August/September time and the wound is definitely showing signs that it will make a full recovery. Compared to Maureen (who we sighted later in the trip), who we know is around 4.5m in length (based on measurements taken last year), this shark must be somewhere between 4.5 and 5 meters in length – certainly an impressive sight!! Unfortunately for us she just wasn’t that interested in us and after the one pass continued on her way. A total of 8 sharks were sighted in total to make an awesome day out in the shallows!
